"If your soul is no stranger to you, the whole world is your home." Kabir
Beginning in March 2000 we visited
Rome, Spain,
London, Korea,
Japan, Australia,
Hawaii,
and San Francisco as we circled the globe in about 11
weeks. We traveled on our own except for a Trafalgar Tour we joined in Spain. Our
trip comprised 18 air flights, about 1500 miles by bus, and more train rides than we can
count. We had no lost luggage, no delayed flights and accommodations that ranged
from okay to spectacular. We are excited to share our trip with you.
We put our itineraryon the net prior to our trip so that our family and friends could follow our trip and
reach us if necessary.
Our travel tips section offers tips for
planning, packing, and money management and other suggestions when traveling..
In addition, we thought you might be interested
in our snapshots of courting behavior
around the world. We certainly were intrigued and we quickly found out that what is
acceptable public behavior in one country is taboo in another!
We found that
using Internet cafes to keep in touch
with with our friends back home and around the world to be easy in some places, impossible
in others, and ranges from quite cheap to expensive.
We include a
section that compares hospitals and medical care
in the USA with those in Australia and Japan. Unfortunately we have had first-hand
experiences with each.
From a practical point of view, as well as a
humorous slant, we write a section on "Bathrooms
Around the World." This becomes particularly vital if you are
traveling with a kidney infection as one of us was!
